XeroCon London 2022 is back! What to know if you are going.

After 2 long years over 2000 accountants will gather once again for the epic and renowned XeroCon London 2022.

Not only should you expect to be moved by incredible speakers, but you should be willing to be moved by the party because this event carries the reputation of being the ‘Glastonbury for accountants’ for a reason!

As we were eagerly preparing for the day we thought - why don’t we share all the information we have about XeroCon to make our fellow accountants’ lives easier?

Before we head into all the nitty gritty details, it’s important we mention our team will be at XeroCon 2022, giving you both their best smiles and free demos which you can book here in a matter of seconds to learn how Timworks can help you build better relationships with your clients forever.

Now, where were we…

What is XeroCon?

If you are attending, but also a XeroCon novice then you may wonder what to expect.

This premier event for accountants and bookkeepers is held by Xero, a cloud-based accounting software platform specialising in helping small businesses and their advisors to access real-time financial data on any device.

XeroCon is the ‘unmissable event’ for cloud accounting leaders and bookkeepers from across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Over the course of two days experts in the industry will hear industry leaders speak, get insights and catch up with the latest trends and achievements, expand their knowledge about the platform as well as accounting’s latest tools and features. Expect to leave with a lot of useful knowledge, feeling inspired and ready to improve the way you do accounting!

All of this whilst enjoying your team’s company, having a little boogie and making new friends while sipping champagne in London!

When and where is XeroCon London?

This year, for a change, the event is going to be hosted at a new venue - the Tobacco Docks in the East London district of Wapping, famous for its curved brick vaults and listed timbers (oh, and there is a rooftop 👀).

XeroCon will be spread over the course of two days - 20th and 21st July, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in talks from incredible guests and industry leaders, grow your circle and catch up with the latest industry insights.

Our top tip is to ensure you book your accommodation and plan ahead to avoid last-minute disappointment if you are not local!

Do I need to be there for both days?

The answer is obviously - no, not necessarily, but if you want to make the most out of your time and get the best value for your money, then - most certainly!

The reason why it is longer than a day is so that you can truly get the full experience - over the course of two days, guests will hear from industry leaders and get expert insight into new and innovative ways to help them save time and grow.

In their critical role as ‘key workers’ to small businesses, delegates will also learn how they can support their clients better in a post-pandemic environment. And we all know how important and valuable an accountant’s relationship with their client is.

How can I get there?

XeroCon is going to be hosted at Tobacco Docks, in East London, E1W 2SF.

Fear not, because this is a good location so no matter where you are arriving from, there is a fairly straightforward way to get there. Here are the few routes:

  • DLR - The closest DLR station is Shadwell, which connects with Bank (and Bank connects with most of the other lines on the underground!) - you only have a short, 9-minute walk from the DLR to the event

  • If that is not an option for you, then you can opt for the Elizabeth line, followed by the Overground. The Overground stop you want to get off is (surprise, surprise) Shadwell again

  • If riding the train is not your thing, you can always grab a cab or an Uber (price varies depending on starting location, but approximately £35 if you are near central London)

If you are not a Londoner, we recommend getting the Citymapper transport app which provides you with the best options for public transport from your current location to where you want to get with real-time updates.

What should I know before I go?

If you are a little bit like us, you probably prefer to go prepared so you can make the most out of your time because let’s face it - this event is not your usual conference. Hopefully by now you have booked tickets for you and your time, because the latest update from XeroCon is that they have already sold out for the London event (doesn’t this speak for itself?).

Location, location, location

The most important thing to take note of is of course the location and especially because this accountant’s event is not at ExCeL London but at the Tobacco Docks instead. With its vibrant history rooted in change, Tobacco Dock is a fitting venue for us to “reconnect and recharge.”

Planning ahead

Get ready for two jam-packed days of entertainment and industry insights but before it gets overwhelming, you may want to combine your networking with your tea breaks - an easy way to do that will be to check the agenda here beforehand so you can plan your lunch breaks stress-free.

A good thing to note if you’ve never attended before is that it’s all fully catered so you don’t need to worry about food at any given time and focus on the endless networking opportunities, keynote speakers, the fun, games, presentations and immersive experiences instead.

Oh, and make sure you bring your dancing shoes and your sunglasses (for the party and the day after, respectfully). And while this may be a reason good enough for some…

Here are a few other reasons why you should attend

Staying ahead of the latest industry trends and news and inspirational speakers

That’s right - you will get the opportunity to hear the absolute latest in Xero as well as the wider marketplace so you can provide your clients with the best possible solution, making both you and them an even bigger success.

Get ready to be moved by Xero leaders such as:

  • Sue Perkins - Sue is a popular presenter, writer, actor and comedian. We can’t wait for the fun she will bring to XeroCon as Master of Ceremonies.

  • Chief Product Officer Anna Curzon - No one is better positioned to share how Xero is better meeting the needs of accountants and bookkeepers. We are looking forward to her insights into what Xero is up to.

  • Samantha Clarke - a Ted X speaker and author of “Love it or Leave it - How to be happy at work”, Samantha is on a mission to bring more wellbeing and happiness to the workplace and our lives, overall. We’re looking forward to feeling inspired after hearing what she has to say!

  • Fara Williams - Fara Williams is a champion footballer and now works to support those facing homelessness. She will share her own inspirational story and we feel privileged that she’ll be joining us at XeroCon!

Oh, and did we mention the exciting opportunity to connect with more than 50 app partners from the Xero ecosystem in person?! We are definitely looking forward to meeting you and showing you how Timworks can forever make a difference in your customer relationship management (and if the feelings are mutual, book a demo for your team here or alternatively surprise us by popping by our booth unannounced).

Forming new connections and growing closer as a team

From sharing wins and insights, to creating new friendships and forming even stronger bonds with your team doing something different (and in person!) - XeroCon never disappoints.

There is nothing more inspirational than the opportunity to brainstorm ideas and share the ups and downs from the industry in such an eclectic atmosphere, all united by a shared vision of moving forward, innovating and shaping the future in a better shape than we’ve found it.

Remember the delightful amusement involving karaoke rooms, bumper cars, a merry-go-round, virtual reality games, a pub on the green, and an indoor cricket pitch that we have happily jumped on in previous XeroCon events? Well, expect more of that this year, too!

Prioritising human connections and improving our relationship with our clients is at the very heart of what we at Timworks do, so take this opportunity to come and say hello to learn how you can show your clients you really care about them! Expect to brag about never having a better relationship with your client since you started using Timworks 😉

The ‘Glastonbury for Accountants’ is more than your usual annual event

Get ready to be moved not just by the inspirational speakers on the day! There is a reason they call it the ‘Glastonbury for accountants’ and this is a lot to live up to! Our advice is to keep secretly practising those moves so you rock the dancefloor at the XeroCon afterparty because you won’t be able to resist the infectious live music and entertainment.

Where’s the party at: Old Billingsgate, 1 Old Billingsgate Walk, London, EC3R 6DX.

This is approximately a 25 minute walk from Tobacco Dock or a 10 minute journey by car so make sure you plan your visit to London with this in mind.
